Understanding Socket Communication

A socket is an endpoint for communication between two machines. When a server calls listen(), it creates a passive socket that waits for incoming connections.

The client initiates a connection using connect(). The TCP three-way handshake occurs: SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK. Once established, data can flow bidirectionally.

When the server accepts the connection with accept(), a new socket is created specifically for that client. The original listening socket continues to accept new connections...
